With more than 25 years experience in tree felling and heli-logging throughout New Zealand, Dave has the expertise and experience to handle all levels of tree work. About Heli-Logging...
Since March 2000 Fullchisel Felling(Dave) has been involved in heli-logging after 10 yrs working with conventional hauler & groundbase crews. Daves heli-logging contracts has taken him throughout the country selecting, felling, scaling & breaking out trees & communications for overhead helicopters in exotic & native operations. Dave was trained under the guidance of icon Aurther Jenkins to work the Beech forests from St Arnard through to the mountainous ranges of Mauria & rugged westcoast. Heli-logging is a passion for Dave its all old school felling with special techniques introduced for species such as Beech ,Tawa .Dave generally works in the mountains on private land armed with a axe ,wedges ,chainsaw radio & a good raincoat & more than often used to team up with good mate & experienced heli-logger Shannon Crannitch(now retired from the heli-logging scene) on all heli-logging operations.Dave has worked the country side heli-logging such species as Pine,Rimu,Beech(Red & Silver & Hard),Totara,Tawa,Rewa Rewa & limited other species from 800kg lifts through to 5000kg lifts.Dave has fallen & worked underneath the following helicopters(Lama - 800kg lift Scout 1000kg lift Huey (L & H models) 1300 - 1500kg lift Wessex - 1800kg lift Kmax - 2300kg lift Vertol - 4000kg lift Mil 8 - 5000kg lift ) Dave works regulary on contracts throughout yr mainly for NZSFP & private land owners.
About Chainsaw milling...
Fullchisel felling also has a chainsaw milling service (Alaskian milling) where your felled tree can be milled into unique table tops or slabs. This is especially good if a tree has some sentimental value as this way it can be a part of you forever.This can be chainsaw milled where the tree is felled & is lying ,instead of having a tree just cut for firewood & burnt 12months later ,you can have a ever lasting peice of value sentimental wood as such things as dining table ,coffee top ,or even as one customer bench tops for a house renovation yrs down the track.Dave can slice wood up to 1.6mtrs in width

Fullchisel Felling also has a 5tonne Bell Ultra Logger & delimber(as seen in the photos under tree services. Fullchisel not only logs & process your woodlots/shelters but markets as well with returns to the farmer /landowner .always appreciated to likes of Dairy conversions with returns going to ground preparations , fullchisel also runs the renner rake ideal for fine rootraking clean ups
ROUTED WOODEN SIGNS
Dave has been designing & hand routering wooden signs for atleast 14yrs on a part time basis .We have had orders from the UK to Auzy ,if needing a overseas order from 1 sign to a 100 Dave can organise make the signs & get them where ever they go .The unique thing with Fullchisel is Dave cuts the tree down ,chainsaw mills the slabs (which keeps costs down from purchasing timber ) & then routers the sign freehand.
